Down In Front – Dallas Motor Vu Drive In

When you hear of a city named Dallas, the images that immediately come to mind are cows, horses, dusty roads, and flat land as far as the eye can see. Those of you who have been farther west than Las Vegas, have probably heard of the city of Dallas, Oregon, home to the Dallas Motor Vu Drive In Theater.

Built and opened by Don Wernli on July 22, 1953, Dallas Motor Vu boasts the largest outdoor screen in Oregon. The first features shown were Branded, starring Alan Ladd and Meet Me At The Fair, starring Dan Daily and Diana Lynn, along with 2 cartoons and an intermission reel.

Fourth and current owner, Jeff Mexico, keeps the nostalgia alive with his fabulous 50s weekends, classic car cruise ins, and outdoor barbecues. If you aren’t a fan of barbecue, however, they have lots of goodies in the snack bar like sliders, cinna-pretzels, and espresso. One visit and you will change your mind about dusty roads in Dallas!
