Arclight Films Adds thrillers REPLICATE & FURIE to Cannes Slate

Beverly Hills, CA (May 6, 2018) Leading international sales company Arclight Films has added two high impact feature films to its Cannes sales slate; the high-octane sci-fi thriller Replicate starring Joel Courtney and Andi Matichak and the female-led Vietnamese action thriller Furie starring Vietnamese superstar Veronica Ngo, it was announced today by Arclight Films Chairman, Gary Hamilton.

Arclight is handling worldwide rights for both Replicate and Furie. The company will present both films to buyers at the upcoming Marché du Film.

Replicate is directed by John Murlowski (Black Cadillac, Crimes Of the Mind) who wrote the script with Steven Palmer Peterson. The thriller stars Joel Courtney (Super 8, ABC’s “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.”), Cam Gigandet (Twilight, The Magnificent SevenEasy A), Andi Matichak (star of the upcoming Halloween), and Calum Worthy (Austin & Ally, Netflix’s American Vandal).

While making a web series mocking their quaint small town, three close friends slowly discover that their relatives and neighbors are being killed and replaced by creatures that are perfect copies of their victims. As the entire town is taken over, their only weapon is to covertly record the takeover and put it on the web in a desperate attempt to attract outside help. It’s a race against time for Zach, Kayla and Randy before the whole human race goes extinct.

Producers of Replicate are William Fay (The Hangover300, Independence Day) and John Murlowski.

“From the first moment I read the script for Replicate, I was hooked by the propulsive power, paranoia and non-stop tension you find in the best classic thrillers, from Invasion Of the Body Snatchers to Get Out, but with a fresh conceit that keeps the surprises coming,” commented Fay. “We were lucky to be able to put together an incredibly talented cast of young actors to bring it to life. I am excited to be working with Arclight to bring this engaging and intense experience to audiences around the world.”

The highly anticipated Furie stars Vietnam’s biggest film star Veronica Ngo who was most recently seen in the blockbuster Star Wars: The Last Jedi as Tico’s sister, Paige, and Netflix’s original feature film Bright starring Will Smith and Joel Edgerton. The film is directed by Le Van Kiet (The Rich Woman, The Lost Tour: Vietnam) alongside acclaimed action director Kefi Abrikh (Jason Bourne, Lucy).

In the vein of the international box office hit action film RaidFurie follows Hai Phuong (Ngo) a gangster who retired from the life of crime after the birth of her daughter. Despite lying low in the countryside, she can’t seem to escape her violent past when her daughter is kidnapped right before her eyes. Hai Phuong is forced back into the life she swore she would leave behind and will stop at nothing to get her daughter back from the infamous organ-trafficking ring.

Ngo is also producing the film along with Bey Logan.

“The appetite for female-led action films and for thriller genre fare is very strong in the international marketplace,” commented Arclight Films’ Gary Hamilton. “Veronica Ngo, the star of Furie, is one of Vietnam’s biggest stars right now making massive international waves. This film is the next Raid and is a real hidden gem. Replicate is one of those truly fun and chilling genre films that all thriller fans crave. We look forward to offering these two action-packed, edge of your seat films to our buyers in Cannes.”

Replicate’s rising star Joel Courtney starred in JJ Abrams’ sci-fi thriller Super 8 and has appeared in ABC’s hit series “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” He can next be seen in Netflix’s The Kissing Booth with Molly Ringwald and Joey King.

Andi Matichak has been getting a huge amount of attention as the new young star of the legendary Halloween franchise as anticipation builds for the release of the new Halloween movie this coming October. She assumes the leading role as Jamie Lee Curtis’ granddaughter.

Cam Gigandet starred in the blockbuster YA novel adaptation Twilight and the Twilight Saga, Summit Distribution’s action drama Never Back Down with Amber Heard and Djimon Hounsou, and has appeared in Antoine Fuqua’s remake of Akira Kurosawa’s The Magnificent Seven, and the popular television series “The O.C.”

William Fay was one of the founders of Legendary Pictures and has executive produced some of the industry’s biggest blockbusters including the Oscar nominated The Town directed by Ben Affleck, Warner Bros. Clash of the Titans starring Sam Worthington and Liam Neeson, Todd Phillips’ groundbreaking comedy The Hangover, the smash hit Independence Day starring Will Smith, and Zack Snyder’s 300 starring Gerard Butler, to name a few.
