CT Film Festival '09

filmfest2009posterWe recently returned from the opening night of the CT Film Festival where we got an opportunity to speak with some really great people, see a wonderful new independent film, and take in the town and festival aesthetic. The festival runs from June 2 through the 7th in downtown Danbury, Connecticut. The fest itself is chock full of goodness and things to do including over 100 films to view, 70 bands to listen to, and one hundred workshops to attend as well as several panels and keynote addresses to keep everyone bustling about for the week.

For those of you inclined to making movies, they are hosting the 24-Hour “Cup-O-Joe” Guerilla Filmmaking Competition where you will have the chance to make and show their finished product and win some great prizes in the process! (Who wouldn’t want free Avid home software to make their own magnum opus with?)

Some of the movies screening include the feature indepedent film “TiMER” by first time director Jac Schaeffer, (whom we got a chance to speak with. Look for that interview later this week!) with an all-star cast including Emma Caulfield, Michelle Borth, John Patrick Amedori, Desmond Harrington, and JoBeth Williams. Oscar Nominee “Augest Rush” will also be screening as well, as will “The Baker”, “Barking Water”, the documentary “Beauty of the Fight”, “Boxing Day” “Boogie”, and “Canvas”. There are also many short and student films included in this long list as well as several other interesting documentaries that we can’t wait to screen later this week!

More information is coming as we get it and get the chance to post it! Stay tuned here, or for more information from the festival organizers go to www.ctfilmfest.com.

We will be here almost the entire week (Sorry we’ll be skipping the weekend, but that’s only because we’ll be at SINY)
