Built in the summer of 1965 by the Sherman family, the Aut-O-rama Drive In theater in North Ridgeville, Ohio is now run by the third generation of Sherman family. It has been the family’s pride and joy since they raised the screen, put in the first speaker pole, and decided where the concessions and box office would stand.
The second screen was added in 1972, making the Aut-O-rama Drive In a Twin theater. They were the first drive in theater in the Cleveland area to offer customers a choice of films by doing so. They were also the first in the area to offer audio through your AM and then FM stereo.
As with many drive in theaters, the Aut-O-rama holds a flea market every Sunday morning May through September from 7am until 1pm. Admission for buyers is free and for a limited time, there is no charge for vendors, either! They are looking for antiques, new and used items, crafts, produce, clothing, etc. Commercial vendors are also welcome. Free coffee is available at the snack bar along with Meatball subs, jalapeno poppers, cheeseburgers, T-shirts, and hoodies for purchase.
For three years in a row, the Aut-O-rama Drive In theater has been voted Best Indie Theater in the Fox 8 Hot List competition. Their customers love the theater and come back again and again! Admission for your double feature is only $8 for adults ages 12 and over, $3 for children ages 4 to 11 years old, and children ages 3 and under are free. Whether you are there to enjoy a double feature in the open air or to find a great bargain at the flea market, you’re sure to have a great time at the Aut-O-rama Drive In!
