Yet another “Bring It On” movie has been released. This brings the total to five movies. This one, “Bring It On: Fight to the Finish” may have been a little much for some people. Everyone is tired of the same story lines and this one definitely has that same story line—a cheerleader is part of the underdog squad yet somehow manages to come out on top.
Who knew that high school cheerleaders could become all star cheerleaders? I cheered for thirteen years and never knew that. All-stars is definitely the best, and most difficult, cheering there is. Having been a part of a high school squad as well, I know there is a big difference between the two types of cheering. High school cheerleaders do not belong in the all-stars world, yet “Bring It On: Fight to the Finish” manages to do just that. The film brings the two cheer groups closer than ever before.
Lina’s mother remarries and Lina has to move from East L.A. to Malibu. Horrible, right? It is for Lina. She was captain of her squad and they were about to reach all-star status. Instead of leading the East L.A. squad to victory, she ends up the captain of her squad at her new school. The squad, which happens to include her new step-sister, has potential but doesn’t exactly strike someone as a good squad. Throughout the movie, Lina takes the squad and transform it as well as her bond with her new step-sister that is able to include her old friends as well. By the end of the movie, one might even think that moving to Malibu was one of the best things that could have happened; there is, of course, a great looking guy that supports that idea.
What I liked most about this movie, was the camera shots at the end of the movie during the final competition. They manage to give you a whole new view of cheerleading. You can see what stunts and tumbling look like from the floors perspective. I must admit, it looks pretty awesome.
While this movie strikes many as boring and unoriginal since there are four others just like it, I disagree. This movie combines all of the concepts in the other movies such as moving and two totally different cheerleading squads. I do, however, think that they should just leave it alone from now on. They have created five awesome movies and need to just leave at that before they make the audience no longer enjoy any of them. This movie has walked a fine line and barely came out on top, but it does rank as good in my book. Hey, what can I say? I’m a cheerleader.
